CONFIRMED: Mark Stoops staying at Kentucky

What a day.

UK Athletics

And there it is, straight from Mark Stoops himself.

It would appear the Kentucky Wildcats are keeping Mark Stoops.

With rumors running rampant that the 11th-year head coach is leaving for the Texas A&M Aggies, KSR’s Matt Jones reports that Stoops is staying in Lexington.

Of course, after today, take everything with a grain of salt.

And this from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who originally reported Stoops’ candidacy at Texas A&M.

This day has been nothing short of incredible.

From 6-5 Kentucky going on the road as eight-point underdogs to upsetting the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals for a fifth-straight win in the Governor’s Cup series to getting pretty firm confirmation Stoops was leaving for the Aggies, this one will go down in the books for UK Athletics.

I don’t know what really went down or what supposedly changed in the past few hours, but Kentucky keeping Stoops after beating a top-10 team on the road sounds nice to me.

But again, we are still waiting for 100% confirmation in either regard, so stay tuned!
