This seems fishy.

Update: Following Kentucky’s thrilling 38-31 victory over Louisville, head coach Mark Stoops ‘briefly’ (emphasis on the briefly) addressed the Texas A&M rumors.

Well, this is interesting

Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops is reportedly a candidate for the head coach opening at Texas A&M, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman and ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Thamel discussed the Aggies’ coaching search during ESPN College GameDay on Saturday. He stated that Stoops is someone A&M has significant interest in.

“One name that’s expected to emerge in the next 24 hours is Kentucky coach Mark Stoops,” Thamel said. “He coaches a rivalry game against Louisville today, and the next 24 hours will be critical for his candidacy.”

As for Feldman, he simply mentioned Stoops is a name to watch.

Personally, I don’t see this happening. It feels like another play by Stoops’ agent, Jimmy Sexton, to take Mitch Barnhart to the woodshed with Stoops’ contract, a seemingly annual experience since 2014.

Plus, Texas A&M is absolutely loaded with football money. They should have several better candidates than Stoops.

What say you? Is this legit, or is it another play by Stoops’ agent? Who should Kentucky look at if Stoops were to leave? And is Stoops even a good fit for the Aggies?
