The Kentucky Wildcats schedule for the 2024-25 football season is taking one small tweak.
According to a report by Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, Kentucky and Ohio State will swap non-conference opponents for next season, which will set up matchups against Southern Miss for UK and Akron for OSU.
The games will be played on Aug. 31st.
Ohio State & Kentucky swap non-conference opponents in 2024. Ohio State will now host Akron & Kentucky will host Southern Miss. Both games will be played on Aug. 31— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) November 21, 2023
The matchup with the Zips was supposed to be played in Akron, but it has long been assumed Kentucky would buy out that part of the contract. It appears they found a trade solution instead.
UK will face off against Southern Miss for the first time since the 2017 season, which was a game the Cats narrowly escaped from with a 24-17 victory. The last time the Golden Eagles came to Lexington was a 44-35 for Southern Miss, however.
Overall, Kentucky leads the all-time series 3-1.
Going to be a fun matchup to renew to kick off the season at Kroger Field.
