There is still mutual interest with Mookie Cook and Kentucky

Cook is currently considering six options.

Last Wednesday, 5-star wing Mookie Cook announced that he was decommitting from the Oregon Ducks and reopening his recruitment.

Soon after Cook’s decommitment, On3’s Jamie Shaw reported that the Kentucky Wildcats had reached out to Cook.

In his first recruitment, Cook decided to commit to the Ducks over the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Kentucky.

Now in his second recruitment, Cook is once again looking at blue-blood programs as well as the pro route, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

“An abundance of schools reached out to the 6-foot-7 prospect out of AZ Compass Prep following his decommitment, but a source close to Cook told On3 he’s considering the following six programs — Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, Gonzaga, the G-League Ignite, and will continue to consider Oregon. His recruitment remains open for the time being.”

As of right now, Cook is ranked as the No. 5 overall player and No. 2 overall small forward, according to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings.

It will be interesting to see who emerges as the favorite in Cook’s second recruitment, but it appears that there is still mutual interest between Cook and Kentucky.
