Cameron Wheeler must have had a lot going through his head as he took on his former team on the soccer field Tuesday night.
Wheeler, a Louisville native, had a long history with UofL. A lifelong fan with parents who were both alums of the university, it seemed as no surprise Wheeler would play soccer for the Louisville Cardinals.
But he was kicked off the team last year for an alleged “COVID party” along with other UofL student-athletes. We won’t go into all the details here, but you can read more on that situation here.
Wheeler ended up transferring to Kentucky, and on Tuesday night, as the Cats trailed the Cards 1-0, Wheeler scored a beautiful goal that knotted the game at 1-1, a game in which Kentucky went on to win 3-1.

There seems to be a lot more to the story of Vince Tyra kicking the players off the team. This Facebook post by Attorney David Barber provides some more insight into what happened.
Congrats to Cameron on the great game, and even sweeter that it comes at the expense of the Cardinals.
