The Kentucky Wildcats kicked off the season by blowing out ULM 45-10. UK Started things off a little rocky with a turnover by interception and the defense letting the Warhawks score first.

But then the Cats kicked it into another gear both offensively and defensively. Will Levis looked every bit the part of an upper tier starting quarterback in the SEC. Wan’Dale Robinson and Josh Ali proved to be a dynamic duo at wide receiver. Christopher Rodriguez yet again went over 100 yards rushing and was in punishing season form. And that deense... man that defense.

The obvious state is that we need to temper our expectations because, of course, it’s ULM. But it’s quite obvious that the Cats have talent and coaching on offense that we haven’t seen in quite some time under Mark Stoops. Everything looked different. Everything felt different.

Missouri comes to town this Saturday for the first actual test of the season. If Kentucky can beat Missouri in convincing fashion, then Kentucky fans can start to dream pretty big because outside of Alabama and Georgia, the SEC looked pretty wide open after Saturday.

Tweets of the Day

There were actually more of these but I think you all get the picture.

Quickies

Three takeaways from beating ULM | Cats Pause- A good point here is that the offense needs to work on the sloppiness we saw yesterday. Two turnovers are way too much and that’ll get them beat against better talent.

Will Levis and the offense were unleashed | KSR- I was honestly shocked by how much Kentucky threw the ball yesterday. It was a perfect balance of the air and ground attack.

SEC Week 1 Power Rankings | SDS- It’s a no-brainer that Alabama and Georgia are sitting at the top of the rankings but UK at #6 tells us that there is still work to do to convince the rest of the conference that yesterday wasn’t a fluke on offense.

Missouri beats Central Michigan 34-24 | Rock M Nation- The heading “The Tiger Defense is a Work in Progress” really caught my eye.

Kentucky gets a passing grade as deep threat is key | WDRB- Multiple touchdowns over 50 yards is not something we have seen since the Joker Phillips Era. Let that sink in.

Volleyball continues to roll | UK Athletics- Another day, another sweep for Craig Skinner’s team. This time USC was the unlucky opponents.

College football winners, losers, and overreactions | CBS- Clemson took maybe the biggest loss out of the weekend as they looked hapless against Georgia’s elite defense. Looks like the Tigers are already out of the Playoff picture with just one loss.

UCLA not surprised after beating LSU | ESPN- It took a little longer than expected but it looks like Chip Kelly’s getting things together at UCLA. They made the biggest statement in the PAC 12 and are sitting are 2-0.

Ed Orgeron in trouble already | USA Today- He possibly had one of the best teams in the history of college football just a few years ago but that doesn’t mean anything at a place like LSU. Coach O is going to be on the hotseat all season long and he’s not off to a great start.
