The 2021 college football season is officially here, and the Kentucky Wildcats faced the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in Kroger Field on Saturday.
The game didn’t get off to the best start for the Cats as the first pass attempt from new quarterback Will Levis was intercepted allowing ULM to get on the scoreboard first taking a 7-0 lead.
However, that lead didn’t last long as Levis hit Wan’Dale Robinson for a 33-yard TD tying things up at 7-all.
After forcing a punt, it took the Cats one play to take the lead as Levis threw a beautiful 58-yard TD pass to Josh Ali making it 14-7.
Later in the half, Chris Rodriguez found the end zone followed by the second receiving TD for Robinson and the Cats took a 28-7 lead into the halftime break.
The second half got off to a slower start for the Cats as they didn’t put any more points on the scoreboard until 3:54 left in the 3rd on a 45-yard FG from Matt Ruffolo making it 31-7.
The offense eventually put together a good drive as Levis led another TD drive hitting tight end Brendan Bates for the 4-yard TD pushing the lead to 38-7.
Will Levis wrapped up his day following that drive finishing with 367 yards and four scores.
Beau Allen finished the day for the Cats at QB as Kentucky rolled to a dominating 45-10 victory over ULM.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the dominating win:

One word to describe Kentucky’s new offense: refreshing.
— Chris Fisher (@ChrisFisher247) September 4, 2021
What an incredible play by JJ Weaver. If he's already doing that it's gonna be a big year for him.

Where was Liam my years at that mf ♂️boys look good tho
— Quinton Bohanna (@QBohanna) September 4, 2021
@UKFootball take them boys out ‼️‼️
— Lonnie Johnson jr. (@Lonnie30johnson) September 4, 2021
Wan'Dale Robinson and Josh Ali are both over 100-yards receiving. First time Kentucky has had two players go over 100 yards since Matt Roark and La'Rod King in 2011 vs. Ole Miss.

Holy PBU Yusuf Corker! Dude came to play.
— Nick Roush (@RoushKSR) September 4, 2021
where was Levi in 2013-2016? lol love to see that ball getting tossed around! #BBN
— Jeff Badet (@JeffBadet__) September 4, 2021
Should be a fun next episode of The DeAndre Square Show. 3.5 TFL and a sack in just more than a half.
— Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) September 4, 2021
Stock is climbing in what amounts to a contract year.
Will Levis is over 300-yards passing. Stephen Johnson vs. Louisville in 2016 was the last time a UK quarterback totaled 300 passing yards in a game.
— Shawn Smith (@gbbcountry) September 4, 2021
Kentucky having multiple threats at WR is new, but long overdue. Glad to get a taste of it.
— Tres Terrell (@TerrellTres) September 4, 2021
Matt Ruffolo was one of the SEC’s most accurate kickers last season. Nails his first attempt vs ULM.
— Freddie Maggard (@FredMaggard606) September 4, 2021
We have to work on those short routes in traffic, but I’m hyped
— Big Blue Breakdown (@BlueBreakdown) September 4, 2021
hmmm
— Terry Wilson (@Terrytouchdown3) September 4, 2021
It must be noted that ULM was horrible last year and appears to be again, but Kentucky’s defense is wrecking the Warhawks. That’s 11 TFL and six sacks mid-third quarter and Terry Bowden’s team has 45 yards (to UK’s 340).
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) September 4, 2021
This style of Kentucky football is fun.

I think we will hear the Banana story approximately 700 times this season

Levis needs to eat something else weird asap

TIGHT END TOUCHDOWN
— Drew Franklin (@DrewFranklinKSR) September 4, 2021
This offense should look pretty enticing to a guy by the name of @DaneKey12 #BBN
— Michael Beard (@AllMikedUp_) September 4, 2021
Imagine us having this offense my senior year…
— Mike Edwards (@M__Edwards7) September 4, 2021
Will Levis is the first Kentucky QB to throw for 4 TD in a single game since Drew Barker in the 2016 season opener vs. Southern Miss.
— TheCatsPause247 (@TheCatsPause247) September 4, 2021
I like us this year!
— Calvin Taylor (@calv_huncho) September 4, 2021
Levis' Game 1 passer rating: 230.9. That's lower than just three quarterbacks who played games before today. For context, Mac Jones' had a 203.06 for all of last year.
— Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) September 4, 2021
WILL LEVIS FOR HEISMAN!!!! pic.twitter.com/r2AWm8WexA
— Kash Daniel (@KashDaniel15) September 4, 2021
564 yards of offense.
— Nick Roush (@RoushKSR) September 4, 2021
419 passing yards.
45 points.
Eddie Gran should stay off Twitter this afternoon.
Yo @LiamCoen
