Happy Football Saturday! The Kentucky Wildcats are finally ready to take the field and showcase their new look offense. They face-off against Louisiana Monroe to kick things off and the Cats are favored by 31 points over the Warhawks, a team that was 0-10 and one of the worst teams in college football.
Head coach Terry Bowden made headlines this week by telling the media that he just hopes that his team doesn’t get hurt and they are able to make it to the BYE week. ULM is a bad football team and Kentucky should have no problem with covering that spread even if they elect to run the ball on every down.
While there isn’t much that we can get out of this game due to the opponent, it’s going to see if certain players can stand out. Obviously most eyes are going to be on Will Levis and Wan’Dale Robinson as they are tabbed to be the catalysts to jumpstart the new-look Kentucky offense. We can also see which other wide receivers outside of Robinson and Josh Ali contribute to the offense.
While Levis will get the lion’s share of snaps at quarterback, I would expect to get a heavy dose of Beau Allen in the second half. Allen will probably play some meaningful minutes this season due to wear and tear on Levis, so it will be important to see what Allen has to offer as back up.
Missouri will be the first true test of the season but that game is one week away. Enjoy the win today and everything that goes with a college football heavy weekend.
