It’s been a hot and heavy few weeks on the Kentucky Wildcats basketball recruiting trail, and things don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Despite the recent miss on Dereck Lively II, John Calipari and his newly formed staff have flexed their muscles with consistency in just a short period of time.
With secured commitments from Shaedon Sharpe, Chris Livingston and Skyy Clark, the Cats’ Class of 2022 is already littered with fresh talent.
It’s been no secret that two players remain at the top of Calipari’s wishlist, and Kentucky appears to still be in a greet position with both.
CBS Sports offered their opinion for what the future holds for some of high school basketball’s top remaining unsigned recruits, and UK’s top targets were mentioned.
We’ll start with Cason Wallace — a dynamic 6-4 combo guard from Richardson (TX.)
The 247 Sports Composite rankings have Wallace pegged as the seventh-best player in the 2022 class, regardless of position, and the top player in Texas.
The Texas pipeline continues to flow in the direction of good favor for John Calipari.
As it stands now, Kentucky appears to be in a great position to land another top-10 dynamic guard in 2022.
In conjunction with his offensive gifts, Wallace’s length will allow an opportunity for him to morph into a special defender.
As of now, the 5-star guard is scheduled to make his decision in November, although rumors continue to swirl that it’ll be bumped up.
Here is a what Kyle Boone of CBS Sports had to say about his prediction of Wallace to Kentucky.
If you weren’t familiar with the name Adem Bona a week or so ago, you surely became familiar after the news broke that Lively would be snubbing the Cats to play for the Duke Blue Devils.
The drama of the Lively decision has added a layer to Bona’s recruitment. Being prioritized behind another player could have allowed the UCLA Bruins to make up some ground.
However, the decision for Bona to come join UK’s 2022 class just seems to make so much sense for both parties for it not to happen.
There is no timetable set for his decision.
