The South Carolina Gamecocks are going to have a new quarterback on Saturday when the Kentucky Wildcats come to town.
Gamecocks’ coach Shane Beamer announced Tuesday that sophomore Luke Doty will be getting his first start of the season on Saturday.
Doty hurt his foot in practice last month and missed the first two games of the season. However, he did see some action last week in a 40-13 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs when starter Zeb Noland was injured.
Noland was the graduate assistant that joined the team once Doty was injured and was the starter for the first three games of the season prior to his injury against Georgia.
Doty was on track to be the starting quarterback for the Gamecocks this season before his preseason injury delayed him seeing the field in 2021.
The Cats and the Gamecocks will kick off at 7:00 pm ET on Saturday, and the game will air on ESPN2.
