Washington has a bright future ahead of him.

It is no secret that this off-season the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team had an overhaul of its roster and coaching staff.

Of all the newcomers, Davidson transfer Kellan Grady is bringing the most experience with him to Lexington.

A 4-year starter for Davidson, Grady has played a lot of college basketball, and he’s been through the ups and down the season will have.

Last Thursday, Grady joined KSR for their morning radio show, and had some good things to say about how this team is coming together as well as some high praise for 4-star freshman TyTy Washington.

“So far the team has been looking great. I think we’ve got a lot of quality pieces,” Grady said on Thursday. “We’re a versatile team, able to shoot the ball, get downhill, penetrate, create opportunities for our teammates. We’ve got added depth this year, really good on the backboards, rebounding the ball. We certainly have the potential to play fast and put up a lot of points. So far, guys are happy. Coach Cal and the staff seem very pleased with our progress and all the work we’ve put in.

“TyTy is a complete player with a real keen knack for scoring the ball and just making the right play. Almost seamlessly, it seems. He’s got range I think people may have underestimated. His shot consistency has been great. He’s really been one of our best players so far. I’m entirely certain he’ll be a joy to watch this year.”

We have now heard praises from John Calipari and now Grady about how well this team is looking in the early stages of their season. From the swagger the staff has to the chemistry this team is clearly building, it feels like a special season could be in the works for the Cats.

Big Blue Madness is just over a month away folks, so we don’t have to wait too much longer to see what these guys look like on the court.
