It doesn’t sound like John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats recruiting hot streak is set to end any time soon.
After landing top 2022 prospect Shaedon Sharpe and having already gotten a commitment from Skyy Clark, the Wildcats appear to be in good position with several other 5-star recruits.
In an update from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Kentucky was featured and said to be in good positions with 5-stars Dereck Lively II, Cason Wallace, Chris Livingston and Adem Bona.
Here’s what Borzello said about each prospect.
Lively
“Lively doesn’t seem as eager to end his recruitment as the other top-five prospects,” Borzello said. “… This could shape up as a Duke vs. Kentucky battle, and could ultimately determine which school has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.”
Wallace
“It’s Kentucky that looks like the favorite heading down the stretch,” he wrote. “The Wildcats have made Wallace their priority on the perimeter, and Nick Smith’s canceled visit to Lexington last weekend cemented Kentucky’s status as the frontrunner.”
Livingston
“Right now, Kentucky is garnering most of the buzz,” Borzello said. “… John Calipari’s program is in pole position.”
Bona
“Kentucky has long been perceived as the favorite for Bona, but the Wildcats’ priority at the center spot is Dereck Lively,” he added. “Bona could end up making a decision before Lively, however.”
These positive updates should be music to Kentucky fans’ ears as their hopes of seeing the Wildcats land the nation’s top prospects on a consistent bases when Orlando Antigua was brought back and Chin Coleman was added to the coaching staff appear to be coming true.
