As fall camp has gotten underway, fans are starting to envision what their team could be heading towards this fall. For Kentucky, the Big Blue Nation is hoping for a trip to Atlanta to play in the SEC Championship.
If you take the time to look at early preseason bowl projections though, you might have some different perspective at what some national analyst think heading into the season.
Brad Crawford of 247 Sports released some of his early bowl projections for this coming season. If Crawford’s projections hold true, then the Cats will be heading just down the road to the Music City Bowl in Nashville against a familiar opponent, the Northwestern Wildcats.
What a fun rematch this would be as the two schools last met in 2017 when Kentucky dropped a thriller to Northwestern, 24-23.
Digging deeper into this projection for Kentucky, it may come across as a bit of disappointment with the hype heading into the season. To make it into this game, you are probably looking at a 7-5 or 8-4 season, when many believe this Kentucky team is capable of 9+ wins.
The schedule lines up well for the Cats to make some serious noise this season. With a new offense being put in place, and another solid defensive unit trotting out onto the field each week, Mark Stoops’ team seems ready as ever to prove they can be a factor in the SEC East race.
For the College Football Playoff, Crawford has the familiar faces squaring off again this season. He has Clemson vs. Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl and Alabama vs. Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, with the Championship being Oklahoma vs Alabama.
