This summer has been one full of exciting basketball news for the Kentucky Wildcats. But the story that has had the BBN the loudest has been the emergence of Reed Sheppard as one of the better guards in the 2023 class.

Many Kentucky fans were upset that John Calipari waited so long to offer Sheppard, but after the first weekend of the evaluation period, and after Calipari got to watch him play in person, Sheppard earned an official offer from the Cats.

As of right now, Sheppard is ranked as the No. 65 overall player according to 247 Sports and is the No. 13 overall combo guard. He also sits at No. 2 overall in the state of Kentucky behind Kaleb Glenn from Louisville Male High School who is currently ranked No. 44 overall.

On Tuesday, Brandon Jenkins of 247 Sports released his class of 2023 players that are on the rise. Sheppard was one of the players he expects to make a massive jump in the updated rankings.

“There was so much hype swirling about Reed Sheppard playing his way into a Kentucky offer that I feel many forget he was playing up an age group and was one of the more productive players on the 3SSB circuit. Just like his play, his bump in the next updated rankings should be significant and impactful. He has definitely produced his way into being considered as one of the better two guards in the national 2023 class.”

So far this summer, Sheppard has received official offers from Kentucky Arizona State, Clemson, Indiana, Virginia, Louisville, Ohio State, UMass, among others.
