One player that has been receiving a lot of praise in recent weeks in 2022 combo guard Nick Smith Jr.

As of right now, Smith is ranked as a 4-star and the No. 27 overall player in the class. However, he is expected to make a big jump when the rankings are updated.

Since leading his team to the Peach Jam championship game, the 6-foot-4 guard has picked up offers from the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee Volunteers, and Florida State Seminoles.

Kentucky has seemed to become the early leader in this recruitment as they have picked up a Crystal Ball prediction from 247 Sports analyst Travis Branham.

Adam Zagoria of Zags Blog caught up with Smith to talk about his recruitment and he broke down a few of his suitors and he had nothing but good things to say about Kentucky.

“Coach Cal was calling me a lot, texting me a lot. He feels like I can be a great combo guard. Playing with Kentucky, you’re going to play with other great players. That’s just how it is at Kentucky. He feels like I can get to the league playing there and stuff and just going from there.”

He was also excited to receive that official offer from the Cats.

“It’s great to get any offer. It’s a blessing to get recruited by any school and Kentucky was one of the schools I was looking at. It’s an honor, but at the end of the day it’s an honor to be recruited by any school.”

As of right now Smith has official visits scheduled to Arkansas (Sept. 12th) and Oklahoma (Sept. 18th) and he plans to announce his final decision on November 20th.
