NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

If you play fantasy football or a Minnesota Vikings fan, you know all too well that the NFC North squad has an absolute super star in Dalvin Cook at running back. You’d also know that Cook is still in his prime and doesn’t appear to be aging out anytime soon.

However, that doesn’t mean Cook is immune to injuries and the Vikings don’t need to ensure they have a somewhat consistent running game if Cook indeed goes down at some point during the season. While Alexander Mattison has been a solid backup to Cook for multiple seasons and is signed through next season, that doesn’t mean the Vikings won’t take a look at keeping former Kentucky Wildcat AJ Rose on the active roster.

Rose put together a strong preseason, specifically a six carry, 41 yard and two touchdown game against the Kansas City Chiefs last Friday.

Rose totaled 37 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns over the course of three preseason games. His performances were solid enough to earn first-team all preseason honors and should lock his name in for a spot on the active roster.

If we know anything about the NFL, we’re way too familiar with how often injuries can happen and that it’s a next-man-up mentality. Rose is a fresh set of legs for the Vikings and doesn’t come at an expensive price. He’s the perfect candidate to work hard and stay ready for the playoff-contending team.
