As college football kicks off, we also get to take a quick peek into the college basketball world, as Vegas released some updated national title odds for the 2021-22 season on Friday.
After an offseason where the coaching staff and roster had some major turnover, Kentucky came in tied for the fourth-best odds at 14/1 next to Texas and UCLA. Ahead of them are Gonzaga (7/1), Memphis (9/1), and Michigan (9/1).
After a 9-16 season John Calipari knew he had to make some changes to get his program back in the conversation for title contention. It appears those moves get the stamp of approval when it comes to national expectations.
One of the teams to make the biggest jumps is Memphis and Penny Hardaway. After late offseason additions of Jalen Duren and Emoni Bates, Vegas believes they now have a very really chance at a title.
There is just a little over two months left until the Cats open up the season against Duke at Madison Square Garden. Let’s see if Kentucky can climb these rankings before the actual Big Dance begins.
