The pursuit of Kentucky’s top two targets in the Class of 2022 got a lot tougher this afternoon, as the G-League has come knocking for Shaedon Sharpe and Dereck Lively II.
On Sunday, Sharpe announced on Instagram that he’s received an offer from the G-League Ignite. Details of the offer have not yet been made known. He recently cut his list to five, which included Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Arizona, and the G-League.
From Canada, Sharpe has long been seen as a Kentucky lean due to the connections with his AAU squad, which is the same one that helped produce Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. When his list of five dropped, however, the G-league was an option he added that wasn't included in his top-10 list put out only a few weeks before.
After an impressive summer that has many thinking he will be a contender for the No. 1 player in the class, it wouldn’t have been wild to assume this offer was coming. With the professional option now on the table, many still think that Kentucky is going to be the choice.
With his recruitment expected to wrap up in the near future, Sharpe will also take visits to Oklahoma State and Kansas in the coming weeks. He is currently ranked as the No. 6 overall player according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. However, new recruiting service On3 has Sharpe ranked No. 1 in his class.
Alongside the Sharpe offer, the G-League also extended to offer to Lively. Joseph Tipton of On3 was the first to report the news.

Contract offer is estimated to be $500,000.
With an offer of $500,000 on the table this recruitment might have just gotten slightly more interesting.
Kentucky has long been thought to be one of the major players in the recruitment alongside Duke and North Carolina. With the G-League offer now in the mix, it very well might become a four-horse race that lasts into the spring, though Kentucky has been hoping to get his signature in time for the fall signing period.
Lively is currently ranked as the No. 5 player in the Class of 2022 via 247 Sports Composite rankings but No. 1 by just the 247 Sports site themselves. He’s also No. 2 overall in the On3 rankings.
