The Kentucky Wildcats have been linebacker-U in recent seasons as they have produced high level NFL talent at those positions.
In fact, as Matt Zenitz of On3 notes, Kentucky is the only other team besides the LSU Tigers to produce two first-round NFL draft picks at linebacker in the last three years.
Josh Allen was taken No. 7 overall in 2019 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Jamin Davis was the No. 19 overall pick in 2021 by the Washington Football Team.
However, the Cats may not be done yet. 4-star freshman linebacker Trevin Wallace was ranked as the No. 41 overall player in On3’s 2021 rankings and has been impressive since arriving in Lexington.
“Wallace, from Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County, impressed through summer workouts, continues to flash and impress through the early part of fall camp and appears ready to make an immediate impact for the Wildcats’ defense.” Zenitz wrote.
Zenitz also noted that Ole Miss transfer Jacquez Jones has been sidelined with an injury allowing Wallace to take reps with the first-team defense alongside DeAndre Square.
Wallace might just be a freshman, but he is looking like he could be the next great linebacker to come out of Kentucky and make his way to the NFL.
