It’s talking season folks, and with talking season comes preseason list and rankings.
Only this time, Kentucky is getting some love.
With the team finishing up their first week of fall camp and Will Levis being named the starting QB, it still remains to be seen just how much this offense will rely on the pass game in Liam Coen’s first season. What can be expected is that this team will run the ball with its feature back in Chris Rodriguez Jr.
On Friday, Bryant McFadden of CBS Sports released a list that features the most underrated NFL Draft prospects for the 2021 season. Coming in at No. 2 on that list is Rodriguez.

Here is what McFadden had to say about the Kentucky running back:
“The best SEC player whose name you don’t know, Rodriguez is considered a power back but averaged over 6 yards per carry last season (785 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine games). At 5-foot-11 and 224 pounds, C-Rod’s got sneaky quickness and speed.”
It’s no secret to anyone that follows this football team that Rodriguez is oozing with NFL potential. Luckily, his role in this new offense will showcase his talents for scouts this season.
As McFadden mentions, C-Rod has sneaky quickness and speed once he gets into open space, which will only be utilized more in this offense's new wide zone scheme. If he can also show some development of catching the ball out of the backfield, he can potentially work his way up draft boards across the league.
Rodriguez is considered one of the best backs in the SEC. Now it’s time for NFL front offices to catch onto that trend as well.
