Good morning and happy Saturday, BBN.
The SEC made waves a few weeks ago when they gobbled up Big 12 powers Texas and Oklahoma in a power move that brought both institutions to the SEC. As the Big 12 flailed and the SEC expanded, the remaining Power 5 conferences had to be nervous about being poached next.
The Big 10, the ACC, and the PAC 12 have discussed banding together in an effort to stem off the SEC, create rivalries among their own conferences, and earn mega-TV bucks on their own.
This was inevitable and many wondered when something like this would happen. Obviously each of those conferences have power players in their ranks and there were already rumors floating that alluded to the SEC taking Clemson and Florida State from the ACC. These conferences have to protect their most recognizable and lucratives brands or risk destruction.

Great news from my man @CrowdusDekel this afternoon. No surgery on his knee. Prayers answered. He's a great kid who has worked his ass off. This is just a minor setback, and he'll be back better and faster than ever!!!

This was great news as Dekel Crowdus was making noise in camp and is looking to add to a revamped wide receiving core.

This has nothing to do with sports. I just thought it was cool.
Quickies
Five Cats on Senior Bowl watch list | Cats Pause- These names aren’t surprising at all. Big expectations!
Coaches hopeful patience pays off with Justin Rogers | Cats Illustrated- Rogers’ was a little overwhelmed as freshman with the speed and physicality of the college game.
CBS need to know 20 | CBS- This is a list of underrated draft eligible players that people need to know heading into 2021. Christopher Rodriguez ranks second on the list behind IU’s Michael Penix.
The best SEC player whose name you don’t know, Rodriguez is considered a power back but averaged over 6 yards per carry last season (785 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine games). At 5-foot-11 and 224 pounds, C-Rod’s got sneaky quickness and speed.
C-Rod has 1,000 yard back written all over him.
Is any NCAA violation little at UofL? | WDRB- Details from the Dino Gaudio extortion case emerged on Wednesday and it once again painted the basketball program in a bad light. Even if the infractions were small, they added to an already long list of issues that have plagued the PR image of Cardinal basketball.
Will Levis talks NFL | Vaught’s Views- Levis is very confident that he has the skills to play at the highest level but he knows that he has to win at Kentucky in order to get there.
Rankings the SEC’s top 25 incoming freshmen | SDS- Kentucky has two entries here and both on the defensive side of the ball. Which should come as a surprise to no one.
Derrius Guice for 6 games | ESPN- The former Washington Football Team running back isn’t currently on a roster but the NFL went ahead and proactively suspended him anyway. Guice was arrested last August in connection with a domestic assault. Guice also has been accused of sexual assault dating back to his time at LSU. I don’t think we will see him on a team ever again.
Tyrese Maxey is everything the Sixers have been looking for | Liberty Ballers- Maxey had an impressive rookie season and is currently blowing up in the Summer League. Ben Simmons better watch out. And for the one thousandth time: how good would this kid have been in the NCAA tournament? It still hurts to think about it.
