We are just three weeks away from the start of the 2021 college football season. and the Kentucky Wildcats are looking to have a big year.
Mark Stoops is hoping to have a more explosive offense going forward which is why he decided to bring in former Los Angeles Rams assistant Liam Coen to be the new offensive coordinator.
As the season inches closer, we continue to see more predictions about how the season will go.
Brandon Marcello of 247 Sports released his SEC predictions, and he is not as high on the Cats as some other experts, as he has them finishing 4th in the SEC East behind Georgia, Florida, and Missouri.
“At this point it’s safe to just give coach Mark Stoops the benefit of the doubt, but I don’t feel secure in believing the Wildcats will finish in the top half of the SEC East.”
He continued, “We should expect Penn State transfer Will Levis to take over at quarterback, and improvement is a no-brainer after Kentucky ranked last in yards per game in the SEC last season. Gone is offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and in is Liam Coen. Levis and Coen will benefit greatly with Nebraska transfer Wan’Dale Robinson in position to be the most dynamic playmaker on the entire roster.”
Despite the offensive and defensive lines being a strength for the Cats, Marcello still gives the edge to Missouri.
Marcello also added in a confidence meter which he noted that a confidence ranking of 1 means “boots on the moon by 2024” and a ranking of 10 means “SEC team wins national title by 2024.”
He predicts that the Cats will finish with a 7-5 record in 2021 but gave them a confidence ranking of 6.5 moving forward.
