Kentucky vs. Ohio State in 2021 CBS Sports Classic

A good reason to bring up this gem.

The Kentucky Wildcats are now set to take on Ohio State in this year’s CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 18th at a site yet to be determined. The Wildcats and the Buckeyes will play following the conclusion of the UCLA vs. North Carolina at 3 pm ET.

Kentucky was originally slated to take on North Carolina this season, but due to COVID-19 testing protocols, the teams met last season after Kentucky was originally supposed to play UCLA. The Wildcats will instead take on the Buckeyes in this year’s edition of the annual event.

This ends up being the easiest draw Kentucky could have asked for in this year’s event, as UCLA is now a consensus top-five team heading into next season and will be in the running for the preseason No. 1 ranking now that Johnny Juzang is returning.

North Carolina also figures to be a preseason top-10 team with today’s addition of coveted Marquette transfer Dawson Garcia. Ohio State is currently projected in the 14-20 range of preseason rankings.

This will mark the eighth straight season of the CBS Sports Classic. North Carolina owns a 5-2 record in the event. Ohio State is 4-3, Kentucky is 3-4 and UCLA is 2-5.

The Buckeyes are coming off a 21-10 season with Chris Holtmann in his fifth season as head coach. Ohio State will return six of its top eight scorers from a team that earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
