Jon Scheyer and Duke picked up their first big commitment in the Class of 2022, as Scheyer tries to prove to the national media and other coaches that the Blue Devils will still be a powerhouse on the recruiting trail post-Coach K.
This morning, Joe Tipton of On3Sports reported that four-star big man Kyle Filipowski committed to Duke.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound center is from Wilbraham (MA) and currently plays for Wilbraham & Monson Academy. He’s a 4-star prospect via 247 Sports Composite rankings, which list him as the No. 33 player in the country. Expect to see him reach the top 25 and 5-star status when the next rankings update happens.
Filipowski recently received an offer from Kentucky after an impressive performance at the Nike Peach Jam, where the coaching staff saw the great potential he has to be a dominant offensive player at the collegiate level. The staff knew it would be an uphill battle, but obviously that hill was even bigger than expected.
Kentucky Wildcats will now shift its frontcourt attention to Dereck Lively II and Adem Bona for the Class of 2022.
It also appears that the good news for Duke this weekend will not stop here. 5-star forward and top-10 player Dariq Whitehead is scheduled to announce his commitment this Sunday, and all signs point to Duke being the landing spot, according to 247 Sports’ Travis Branham.
Kyle Filipowski may not be Duke’s only commitment this week. Five-star wing Dariq Whitehead is set to announce on Sunday, and I’ve placed a Crystal Ball for the Blue Devils. He’s also considering Florida State.https://t.co/GreGLkMcvK

There was some previous contact between Whitehead and the Kentucky staff, but nothing ever serious.
Jon Scheyer is starting off his first official class with two high notes. Let the Calipari vs. Scheyer recruiting battles begin.
