Class of 2022 guard Nick Smith Jr. has scored an offer from the Kentucky Wildcats, he announced Sunday.

Smith is currently ranked as a five-star recruit ranked 20th overall in the 2022 class via 247 Sports, as well as the No. 4 combo guard. He recently told Sports Illustrated he’s planning to make a decision sometime this fall after he takes more official visits.

“After I take my last visit, I feel like I’ll know. After taking a bunch of different visits I know what I’m looking for, and I don’t want to draw it out. It’ll be sometime after my last visit in September for sure though.”

The 6-4, 185-pound Arkansas product is primarily known for his ability to score the basketball from all three levels. Smith has great length to be solid on both ends of the floor. Add in the athleticism, the continued development in his playmaking abilities, and Smith could end up being the best combo guard in the country.

Kentucky is considered to be the leader in his recruitment, as they held the only 247 Crystal Ball and Rivals FutureCast prediction prior to this offer. Still, John Calipari and his staff have their work cut out for them to continue to maintain that pole position. North Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, and Alabama are considered the other major players in his recruitment.

This newly built Kentucky staff has been busy this summer handing out offers to recruits in this upcoming class. Smith becomes the second player this week to get the good news, joining five-star guard Cason Wallace.

Kentucky has one commitment for the class in Skyy Clark. With this offer, though, Smith could eventually join the class.
