Thursday Headlines: Best Offensive Line in the SEC Edition

Cole Cubelic thinks Kentucky has the best O-Line in the SEC

NCAA Football: Belk Bowl-Virginia Tech vs Kentucky Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Cole Cubelic knows a thing or two about SEC Football and offensive lines.

Cubelic was an offensive lineman at Auburn in the late 90s and early 2000s, and since has made a living as an analyst with the SEC Network. While there may be bigger names and recruiting recognition at Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, etc. Cubelic thinks Kentucky has the best offensive line going into the 2021-2022 season.

Kentucky has several guys with talent and experience, and Cubelic thinks Kentucky’s Big Blue Wall, coached by Eric Wolford, is better than offensive lines at Texas A&M and Alabama that hope to contend for national titles next year.

Kentucky has several guys who will compete for playing time in what are sure to be some strong competition at a few spots along the line. The experience, depth, and talent will certainly make things easier for Will Levis or Joey Gatewood, along with Kentucky’s running back group.

Cubelic’s confidence in Kentucky’s offensive line also likely plays into his projected SEC standings, where he expects the Cats to finish 2nd in the SEC East, only behind Georgia.

1. Georgia

2. Kentucky

3. Florida

4. Missouri

5. South Carolina

6. Tennessee

7. Vanderbilt

Most predictions have Florida 2nd, so it’s interesting to see Kentucky jump the Gators in this projection. If Kentucky can get off to a hot start, that Oct. 2 matchup in Lexington could be electric.
