NBA: Utah Jazz at Detroit Pistons Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville Sports Commission announced on Thursday that three former Kentucky Wildcat athletes will be joining the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. Dwane Casey (basketball), Keith Madison (baseball) and Rachel Komisarz Baugh (swimming) will be recognized.

UK’s three former athletes will make up half of the class as there are only be six total athletes inducted this year. The induction ceremony will be held at the Galt House on Tuesday, September 7th.

Casey, a current NBA head coach for the Detroit Pistons, was an in-state high school basketball star for Union County High School and helped Kentucky win the national championship in 1978.

As head coach of Kentucky baseball for 25 seasons, Madison’s resume speaks for itself. Not only is he the winningest baseball coach in UK’s history, but he’s also second to only Adolph Rupp for wins as a coach at Kentucky for any sport.

Baugh is a two-time winner of olympic medals and set five individual as well as four relay records during her time with the Wildcats from 1996-1999

Congratulations to these former University of Kentucky athletes!
