The Kentucky Wildcats have an extremely deep and talented roster heading into the 2021-22 season.

The Cats recently got the good news that Davion Mintz will be returning for another season.

With the addition of Mintz, the Cats have climbed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology.

The No. 1 seeds remained unchanged with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, UCLA Bruins, Kansas Jayhawks, and Michigan Wolverines holding the top lines.

As for Kentucky, they are trending up as they now sit as a 2-seed and are in the Midwest region with Kansas as the 1-seed.

In their projected path, if the Cats played the highest seed each round their road to the Final Four would be.

Round of 64: Georgia State Panthers

Round of 32: Illinois Fighting Illini

Sweet 16: Houston Cougars

Elite 8: Kansas Jayhawks

Obviously, Lunardi’s bracketology will change a ton between now and March, but that projected path would create an interesting second round matchup with Illinois after their top two assistants (Orlando Antigua and Chin Coleman) joined John Calipari’s staff this offseason.

The Sweet 16 would feature a rematch of the 2019 Sweet 16 when the Cats defeated Houston 62-58 after a clutch three from Tyler Herro with 25 seconds to play.
