The newly crowned No. 1 player in the class of 2022 is just coming off his official visit to Kentucky, which wrapped up on Tuesday. Kentucky had some positive vibes after the visit, according to KSR’s Matt Jones.
So why not hear from the man himself? Duren spoke about his trip to Lexington via his blog on Sports Illustrated and this is what he had to say of Kentucky:
My most recent visit was to Kentucky and it was great.
I spent a lot of time just getting to know Coach (John) Calipari and the staff and spending time with the players. We had a lot of fun, just kicking it.
Even though there weren’t as many students on campus with it being the summer and all, I could still tell that the fans are great! Especially on social media, they really showed a lot of love, which was cool!
I definitely saw how I could fit in there and, more importantly, how I could improve in that system.
That’s a big thing for me because I’m always looking to get better!
Jack Pilgrim of KSR has repeatedly emphasized that a big focus for Duren is improving and preparing for the NBA, so it is noteworthy that Duren mentioned how he could improve in the Kentucky and John Calipari system.
Duren is planning on cutting his list to five options, and presumably all three of his official visits (Kentucky, Miami, and Memphis) will be on there, and probably the two professional routes (G-League, NBL.)
It seems that college is looking like a very likely possibility for Duren, and Kentucky seems to be in a good spot coming off the official visit.
