The nation’s top-ranked point guard has set his commitment date.

Dior Johnson recently just cut his list to five schools, and has now announced he will be committing on June 25th. It also appears he is down to four choices, as Kentucky is joined by Oregon, Washington, and the National Basketball League. He removed Alabama from his list.

Alex Karamanos of The Circuit broke the news this morning.

Johnson is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the country, according to 247 Sports Composite, and is considered the No. 1 point guard in 2022. 247 Sports’ Jerry Meyer compared Johnson to former Wildcats star De’Aaron Fox.

Originally committed to Syracuse, Johnson backed off of that pledge in November. He also holds offers from Arizona State, Georgia Tech, LSU, Memphis, Ole Miss, TCU and Western Kentucky along with his three finalists.

Kentucky making Johnson’s list of his top-five was pretty shocking, as there really hadn’t been much traction between the two parties. While nice to see, the expectation remains that Johnson will skip college to play professionally somewhere before entering the 2023 NBA Draft.

Will John Calipari be able to pull this one off? We will find out soon enough.
