The Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff has reportedly contacted one of the top prospects in the 2023 recruiting class.

Recruits Zone reports five-star prospect Marquis “Mookie” Cook has told him he has been contacted by Kentucky as well as Memphis, USC, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, and Gonzaga since the start of last week’s contact period for 2023 recruits.

Cook is a native of Portland, Oregon, hence why every other team to contact him thus far is located on the West Coast.

Rivals ranks Cook as the third overall prospect in the 2023 class, only behind Dajuan Wagner Jr. and Omaha Biliew. 247 Sports, however, as him as the 14th ranked prospect in the class.

The rising junior is a 6-foot-7, 200-pound small forward who started his high school career at home in Oregon at Jefferson High School, but he’ll begin playing at Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona next fall.

In addition to his talents on the hardwood, Cook also plays football and is a wide receiver.
