Now that the Kentucky Wildcats are moving back in to campus, we’ll soon be hearing about the infamous summer pickup game all-stars.
It sounds like one of the early contenders for this honor is Daimion Collins, a five-star forward who finished 11th overall in the final 247 Sports rankings for the 2021 class.
During Monday’s satellite camp at Thomas Nelson High School, Kentucky forward Jacob Toppin singled out Collins as the standout in pickup games thus far, going as far as to say the Texas native plays just projected NBA Draft lottery pick Isaiah Jackson.
Jacob Toppin says Daimion Collins has been the standout in early pickup games. “He plays just like Isaiah (Jackson).”

Collins has already drawn comparisons to Jackson in that the incoming Cat is a super-athletic shot-blocking force who’s still quite raw offensively. That’s why, for now, it’s hard to say if Collins will be a one or two-year player.
Saying this, I fully expect Collins to blossom eventually next season, especially with Orlando Antigua aiding in his development, and be a first-round pick in the 2022 draft if he declares.
And if Collins can do what Jackson did last season while playing alongside a healthy Keion Brooks and Oscar Tshiebwe, good luck scoring against this frontline.
