Shaedon Sharpe on official visit to Kentucky

The 11th-ranked recruit in 2022 makes a surprise visit to Kentucky.

The Kentucky Wildcats have a surprise visitor on campus for an official visit this weekend.

On Friday, 247 Sports recruiting analyst Travis Branham reported that five-star shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe is taking an official visit to Lexington this weekend. Sharpe has since confirmed the news himself via Instagram.

A 6-4, 175-pound native of Canada, Sharpe currently plays at Dream City Christian High School (AZ). He played at Sunrise Christian (KS) during the 2019-20 season as a sophomore before transferring. Kentucky issued a scholarship offer back in December of 2020.

Sharpe has been surging up recruiting rankings recently, as he’s now ranked 11th nationally by Rivals. 247 Sports still has him as a four-star recruit ranked 38th nationally, but he’s expected to get a big bump there as well in the next Class of 2022 rankings update.

Other schools who’ve offered Sharpe include Kansas, Alabama, Creighton, Oregon, Illinois and Oklahoma. There are currently no predictions for he’ll land at 247 Sports, but there is one Rivals FutureCast pick in for Kentucky via Cats Illustrated reporter Travis Graf.

Here’s a brief scouting report of Sharpe by Sports Illustrated’s Jason Jordan:

“At 6-foot-4, Sharpe gets to the rim at-will and has the athleticism (45-inch vertical leap) to finish with authority once he’s there. Sharpe can extend the defense with his perimeter jump shot and keeps them off balance with the addition of the efficient mid-range jump shot. He’s a talented playmaker who makes strong reads out of ball-screens as well.”
