With the NBA offseason in effect for most of the league, Yahoo Sports released an article on Tuesday detailing some of the top head-coaching candidates.
Shocker: John Calipari was included in the article, but he’s wasting no time in putting these latest NBA rumors to bed.
It’s that time of the year! Why do rumors always start when we’re in the middle of recruiting?

I have the best job in the country w/ the best opportunity to impact young people & add value to their careers - and that hasn’t changed.
This season can’t come fast enough! Let’s go!
As Calipari alludes to, it’s ironic his name was mentioned in an NBA head-coaching article on the same day college coaches were allowed to begin contacting 2023 recruits.
It also comes one week after it was reported that Class of 2022 superstar Jalen Duren would reclassify into 2021 and pick a college by the end of the summer with Kentucky in contention. It sure helps other schools to recruit against Kentucky when the head coach is supposedly taking a hard look at the NBA.
I also cannot see Calipari leaving in the same offseason when he made the most coaching changes to his staff in perhaps his entire career.
