Could be a good thing for Kentucky since it allows the new assistant coaches to come in and start recruiting Washington to Lexington.
TyTy Washington has taken the next step in his recruitment by setting his decision date for May 12th.
Among Washington’s finalists are the Kentucky Wildcats, Arizona Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, LSU Tigers, Baylor Bears and Oregon Ducks.
I will be committing May 12th

The 6-3, 185-pounder is ranked as the fourth-best point guard 2021 and 33rd-best recruit overall via 247 Sports. Rivals has him ranked 32nd overall and sixth among point guards. The Arizona native had been committed to Creighton, but he decommitted from the Bluejays on March 11th and has been one of the sought-after high school recruits ever since.
As of now, there is no clear-cut favorite for Washington. Since his decommitment, Kentucky has drawn the only Rivals FutureCast prediction, while Arizona has the lone 247 Crystal Ball pick.
Washington recently faced off against former Kentucky signee Nolan Hickman at the Geico National Tournament in Florida. Washington clearly had the upper hand with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals. Not long after that performance, Hickman decommitted from Kentucky.
With no point guard currently on the roster for next year, you have to think this is one of the most attractive situations for Washington to jump into. However, Kentucky could still pursue a veteran point guard in the transfer portal, regardless of what Washington does.
