There is another name in the class of 2022 to keep an eye on, and it seems that an offer could be coming soon.
That player is Bryce Griggs, a four-star point guard out of Houston (TX).
With visits starting up here in the coming week, Briggs took some time to sit down with Jamie Shaw of Rivals Griggs already has some schools in mind he would like to visit.
“I am planning on setting visits in June with Memphis, LSU and, you know, I will try and go to all the Texas schools, because they are right around the corner for me. Kentucky is reaching out to me a lot too. I don’t have any dates set yet, but those are the schools.”
Griggs is currently ranked as the 29th-best player in the country, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He is also considered the fourth-best point guard in the country by the same rankings.
Jerry Meyer of 247 Sports gave this scouting report on Griggs, which includes a first-round grade when he does decide to enter the NBA draft:
“Has a strong and stocky frame. Game based more on controlling horizontal space with his strength and quickness than on controlling vertical space with his leaping. An ultimate three-level scorer. Has deep range and can get to basket. Unconventional style utilizes change of pace and unique angles. Can score moving any direction. Loves hop backs, side steps and step throughs. Has a slick handle. Can deliver the pass when can’t get his shot. has strength and quickness to be a good on-the-ball defender. Rebounding is an area that can improve.”
Now John Calipari and the staff have not offered yet, but Griggs made known to Shaw that he feels an offer is coming.
“Duke and Kentucky have not offered yet but would open my eyes” Griggs said. “Kentucky is on me pretty hard right now, and I think they are close to offering me.”
If so, Griggs will be another guard to join the list of targets the staff is looking to pair alongside of current commit Skyy Clark.
Kentucky will be battling against some other top tier programs if they hope to land his commitment. Duke, Kansas, Baylor, and Memphis all are seen as potential landing spots for Griggs once he decides to commit.
