Quincy Guerrier contacted by Kentucky

A host of SEC programs have reached out to the talented forward.

Another day, another transfer drawing interest from the Kentucky Wildcats.

This one, however, is not a backcourt player, where the Cats desperately need bodies just to field a team next season. Instead, this one is via the frontcourt, as Syracuse Orange forward Quincy Guerrier has reportedly drawn interest from Kentucky.

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reports Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU and Georgia are among the schools who’ve contacted Guerrier, who is arguably the top uncommitted forward in the transfer portal.

The 6-7, 220-pound native of Montreal averaged 13.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 49.3% from the field (31.1% from deep). He scored 20+ points four times, including a 27-point, 11-board outing in an overtime win over Buffalo.

The most important performance Guerrier had was 12 points (5/9 shooting), seven boards and five(!) blocks in 11th-seeded Syracuse’s Round of 32 win over 3rd-seeded West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament.

Guerrier will be a 22-year old junior next season, so he’ll be one of the oldest veterans on just about any roster. My guess is Kentucky is keeping tabs on him in case Keion Brooks Jr. leaves. The frontcourt already has Jacob Toppin, Oscar Tshiebwe, Daimion Collins and Lance Ware. If Brooks is part of it, it’s hard to see Kentucky adding another forward.

If Brooks leaves, however, Guerrier might be the best replacement Kentucky can get. Good on John Calipari and his staff for keeping their options open, but hopefully, Brooks is back for his junior campaign.

In the meantime, check out some highlights of Guerrier in action.
