Good morning, BBN. It’s a dreary start to our Memorial Day Weekend as record low temperatures swept across the area yesterday evening. The good news is Sunday and Monday are going to be much more pleasant.
John Calipari talked to the media yesterday for about thirty minutes or so and he covered a myriad of topics. He confirmed that Keion Brooks will return for his junior year, which is a huge development especially considering that Isaiah Jackson announced his intentions to stay in the draft about an hour after Cal’s press conference.
With Brooks definitely in the fold, it would appear that the roster is complete. But there was an interesting comment in which Calipari stated that he would have six guards on the roster next season. “We’re gonna have basically six guards with Dontaie (Allen),” Calipari stated as he was going over a question about point guards.
Did Calipari let the cat out of the bag about Davion Mintz or is he including him when discussing his roster until the possible sixth year senior makes a decision?
I think Kentucky would be fine without Mintz, but the ability to retain yet another player that is familiar with the program and was one of the few bright spots from last year’s team would be a big boost to this team.
Mintz has until July 7th to decide whether or not to try his hand at getting drafted or return to Kentucky for a run at the Final Four.
