It’s been a while since the city of Lexington has produced a major basketball star. It’s also been a while since a major Lexington target played for the Kentucky Wildcats.
That could be changing over the next few years by way of Lexington Catholic forward John McCrear.
McCrear blew up this past season with Lex Cath playing alongside Bellarmine commit Ben Johnson. Lexington Catholic was considered one of the best teams in the state before being upset early before they could even reach the state tournament.
And McCrear could be visiting UK before long. And it makes sense that he would visit Kentucky, because McCrear is the nephew of Kentucky recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach, and noted big dog, Vince Marrow.
He’s putting in the work. @MccrearJohn time to take it to another level. https://t.co/UW41KnTlGA

McCrear is a class of 2023 recruit, so there’s a few years left for Kentucky to make progress on the recruitment of the Lexington Catholic big man.
McCrear has the potential to explode on to the scene and become not only the best player in the state of Kentucky, but one of the best players in the country by the time 2023 comes around.
