The hype and expectations around the Kentucky Wildcats football program has grown year after year under the leadership of Mark Stoops. Once an undeniable doormat of the SEC East and the SEC as a whole, Kentucky is now consistently contending for second or third place in the Eastern division.
However, 247 Sports believes that Kentucky may have something to say this season about who comes in first place and makes the trip to the SEC title game representing the East.
247 Sports predicted every SEC teams first loss of the season, and based on where they have Kentucky losing, another game against Georgia for an SEC Championship birth could be on the line.
247 predicts that the Wildcats’ first loss does come in Athens between the hedges at Georgia on October 16, which would give Kentucky a 6-0 start to the season with wins over Missouri, Florida, and LSU. All home games.
But, even if Kentucky were to lose to Georgia for their first loss, the Cats would still find a way to the SEC title game based on record. The remaining schedule after the Georgia game sees Kentucky travel to Starkville on October 30, host the Vols on November 6, travel to Nashville to face Vanderbilt on November 13, and then close out with New Mexico State at home on November 20 and at Louisville to end the season November 27.
Going off of 247’s projections, if everything were to go absolutely perfect for Kentucky, that is, at least, a 10 win regular season.
Let’s do this thing.
