The Kentucky Wildcats and Mark Stoops will retain wide receivers coach Jovon Bouknight, according to Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio. He announced the news on Tuesday’s addition of KSR.
Bouknight was arrested on May 8th in Northern Kentucky for speeding, possession of an open alcohol container, and operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Jones said that Bouknight is being punished internally.
After his first season in Lexington this past year, there were rumors that coach Mark Stoops was considering getting rid of Bouknight, presumably due to the poor wide receiver play on the field, before the decision was made to retain Bouknight.
Bouknight is the third different wide receivers coach at Kentucky in just the past four seasons. The not-so-great play from that position has resulted in multiple coaching turnovers.
Kentucky added Nebraska transfer Wan’Dale Robinson to the team this off-season, who has already proven himself in practice, according to offensive coordinator Liam Coen. Robinson and Josh Ali should be a great 1-2 punch for whoever starts at quarterback.
