The final piece to the Kentucky Wildcats’ backcourt for next season may very well be Sahvir Wheeler.
The former Georgia Bulldogs star and Second Team All-SEC guard has been trending heavily toward Kentucky in recent weeks. Now, he’ll make his decision on Monday at 3 pm ET, according to Stadium reporter Jeff Goodman.

The sophomore point guard averaged 14.0 points and 7.4 assists last season.
The four finalists:
Kansas
Kentucky
LSU
Oklahoma State
Wheeler has also been testing the NBA Draft process but is expected to spend next season on a college campus as a junior.
Last season, Wheeler averaged 14 points, 7.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.7 steals a game. He led the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.68) and ranked fourth nationally in assists per game.
The 5-10 Wheeler shot 39.9% from the field (22.5% from deep), so he’s not someone you want taking as many shots (13 field-goal attempts per game) as he did last season for a Georgia team severely lacking offensive weapons.
Wheeler was more efficient as a freshman when he attempted just 7.0 shots per game, which is much closer to what he’d likely take for a Kentucky team that will have Kellan Grady, Dontaie Allen, TyTy Washington, CJ Fredrick, and possibly Keion Brooks and/or Davion Mintz. Saying this, I don’t see Mintz coming back if Kentucky has Washington, Allen, Fredrick, Grady and Wheeler in the backcourt.
Over at 247 Sports, two predictions have been logged for Kentucky to land Wheeler, the most recent from Oklahoma State reporter Cody Nagel. LSU and Kansas are the other finalists.
