Kentucky’s odds to win the SEC East

Kentucky disrespect?

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Kentucky Arden Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats are fielding what is supposed to be their best team, on paper, since the 2018 season. That season saw the Wildcats win 10 games and boast a winning conference record.

The Wildcats also played Georgia at Kroger Field in a winner-take-all game to go to the SEC Championship and clinch the Eastern division. Kentucky got a dose of reality and lost 34-17.

This year, the Wildcats are again in contention for the SEC East, although they have the fourth best odds to take the division, according to BetOnline.

Georgia (5/2), Florida (3/1) and Missouri (5/1) are all ahead of Kentucky who sits in fourth place at 14/1 odds to take the East. Tennessee is also 14/1 for some reason that only God knows.

The surprise of the early betting season is that the oddsmakers are buying into Missouri and Eli Drinkwitz, picking them third in the East in just his second season. Kentucky and Missouri play at Kroger Field for the second game of the season, and from the looks of it, we may very well get a sold-out, filled-to-capacity stadium for a very pivotal SEC game for the first time almost two years.
