Nolan Hickman signs with Gonzaga

Hickman will be staying close to home.

Al Ward

Nolan Hickman has found his new college home.

On Saturday, Hickman officially signed with the Gonzaga Bulldogs. His other finalists were the Kansas Jayhawks and Auburn Tigers.

Hickman, who originally signed with the Kentucky Wildcats, backed out of his commitment in April. In an interview with KSR, Hickman’s father made it clear that homesickness played a major role in his son deciding Kentucky wasn’t for him.

Now, the Seattle (WA) native will be staying home for college as he heads to nearby Spokane to play for last season’s national runner-ups, who just climbed to the preseason No. 1 spot in Jon Rothstein’s updated preseason poll.

As for the Wildcats, they’ve since added a commitment from TyTy Washington, who finished 18 spots higher than Hickman in the final 247 Sports Composite rankings. Kentucky is also poised to add a pledge from Georgia Bulldogs Sahvir Wheeler, so John Calipari’s backcourt should be in good shape next season.

Best of luck to Hickman as he begins his college career.
