And there you have it, 2021 five-star point guard TyTy Washington has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari, providing some resolution to the point guard issue for next issue.
Washington blew up after his decommitment from Creighton earlier this year, and Kentucky was one of the first ones to jump at the chance to get TyTy on their campus next season.
Washington is ranked anywhere from No. 21 to No. 12 and is considered one of the top-three point guards in the class, with ESPN, whom he announced his decision by, having him as their No. 12 ranked prospect and their No. 2 point guard. At this point, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he turns out to be the best point guard to come out of this class.
This is a massive get for the Wildcats and you can very slowly start to feel the swagger return to John Calipari and the University of Kentucky basketball program. Having missing on every feasible big-name point guard last year, Calipari pulls a late rabbit out of his hat and lands one of the top-3 point guard’s in the country.
The addition of Orlando Antigua and Chin Coleman will only make Kentucky stronger. Welcome to Lexington, TyTy!

Players who thrive in our culture are physically tough, have mental toughness to them, want the challenge & are not looking for guarantees, and want to see how good they can be in a competitive environment. That describes @tytywashington3. He wanted this. He wanted the challenge. https://t.co/QNAUQZdDlW

He can play both point and off guard. He is a downhill runner who physically gets to the rim. His physical attributes and mental approach leads me to believe he will be a terrific defender too. I am ecstatic for him to join @BryceHopkins and @CollinsDaimion in our freshman class.

Just told by an individual very close to Sahvir Wheeler that he will announce “within the next 48 hours.” May not happen today after all. On the bright side, Ty Ty Washington to announce at 9 EST tonight. @KentuckyRivals

Kentucky has landed the pledge of TyTy Washington. This is a huge win for Calipari and his new look staff. I believe that Washington could end up being one of this classes top prospects and some time in Lexington will do both sides wonders.

John Calipari on commit TyTy Washington: “He wanted this. He is a combination guard who can play both point and off guard. He is a downhill runner who physically gets to rim. His physical attributes and his mental approach leads me to believe he will be a terrific defender too.”

Kentucky gets a commitment from five star combo guard TyTy Washington. Not gonna lie: If UK also gets a commit from Georgia transfer Sahvir Wheeler- as many project - that will be about as deep, balanced and experienced a team as John Calipari has had in a LONG time

TyTy Washington to Kentucky. Great recruiting job by John Calipari to land Washington, who was pretty much a must get after Hickman left.

I think Washington will be up-and-down at times but really excited to see what he could be come March.
