More Adam Miller - Kentucky buzz...maybe

So, something interesting happened today.

First, former Indiana Hoosiers star A.J. Guyton tweeted “Adam Miller to Kentucky,” early Saturday morning, though he’s since deleted the tweet.

Then, Kentucky assistant coach tweeted a gif of the Red Pill or Blue Pill scene from The Matrix.

John Calipari is turning to the transfer market in order to complete his Kentucky basketball roster for the 2021-22 season.

The biggest need for the Wildcats is a true point guard, especially after Devin Askew decided to transfer and Davion Mintz still considering pursuing a professional career.

Everyone has talked about the possibility of Marcus Carr from Minnesota being the best option for Calipari. However, with the possibility that Carr stays in the NBA Draft, Calipari may have to look at another option.

Matt Howe of 247 Sports ranked the top-10 transfer players that are available as of right now, and one of them could be an option for the Cats.

The No. 7 overall player on this list is Adam Miller, who is leaving the Illinois Fighting Illini. And Kentucky is seen as a potential landing spot, according to Howe.

“DePaul, Kentucky, Michigan and several others have been tossed around as possible destinations but he’s another who has been pretty quiet since deciding to transfer.”

Miller was ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the 2020 class. In 25.5 minutes a game as a true freshman at Illinois, he averaged 8.3 points and 2.8 rebounds. He also liked to get up shots from deep, as he averaged 4.9 three-point attempts per game and shot 34%.

The 6-3 Miller had 13 double-digit scoring games, including a 28-point outburst in his college debut vs. North Carolina A&T. He also scored 20 combined points on 8/10 shooting (3/6 from deep) with three assists vs. two turnovers in two NCAA Tournament games.

Howe notes that Miller was pretty serious about Arizona before going to Illinois. However, with Sean Miller now fired at Arizona, that would seem unlikely.

Miller may be someone that can come in and be the point guard next season, but his 0.8 assists per game average from this season would need to dramatically increase as the primary ball handler.
