Earlier today, the Kentucky Wildcats lost a commitment from five-star 2021 guard Nolan Hickman. He was the Cats’ only backcourt pledge in the class, though they did land Davidson transfer guard Kellan Grady earlier this offseason.
However, it appears one of Kentucky’s other top backcourt transfer candidates may be heading elsewhere.
Former Illinois Fighting Illini guard Adam Miller will announce his commitment Saturday, and Kentucky is one of the schools still in the mix, as are DePaul, Michigan and LSU among others.
Well, 247 Sports recruiting expert Travis Branham just logged a crystal ball prediction in favor of LSU, the first prediction logged anywhere for Miller.
After becoming a full-time starter as a true freshman for the Big Ten champion Illini, Miller became one of the top players to hit the transfer portal this offseason. And with the passing of the one-time transfer rule, Miller will be eligible immediately wherever he lands.
This past season in Champagne, Miller averaged 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 31 games played. He averaged 10.0 points on 8/11 shooting with 1.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in two NCAA Tournament games.
Miller was primed to take over the lead guard spot for Brad Underwood next season after the departure of Ayo Dosunmu to the NBA. For whatever reason, he felt finding a new home was in his best interest, and Kentucky was among the first schools to reach out.
Even if Kentucky somehow gets Miller, expect John Calipari to still target more guards via the transfer portal and/or high school recruits. But for now, it looks like LSU is poised to land the combo guard.
