Jamin Davis to Washington Football Team in 2021 NFL Draft

Jamin Davis finally has an NFL home.

With the 19th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Washington Football Team selected Davis, making him one of the highest-drafted players in program history. He’s the second-highest draft pick in the Mark Stoops era, trailing only Josh Allen, who went 7th to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft. Bud Dupree going 22nd to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015 was Stoops’ other first-round pick while coaching Kentucky.

This past season, Davis become one of the top linebackers not only in the SEC, but the entire country. He ranked third in the SEC in total tackles (102), despite missing one game due to an undisclosed issue. He also recorded four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, one pick-six, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick.

When Kentucky’s offseason began, Davis was widely expected to return for his senior season. However, he went through the draft evaluation process and got great feedback from the draft advisory board, which led to him make what, at the time, was viewed as a shocking decision to declare.

Obviously, that turned out to be a great move now that Davis is a top-20 pick.
