We are closing in on the 2021 NFL Draft. With just hours left until the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock, draft analysts are getting their final Big Boards put out, as to who they think the top prospects are going into this weekend.
Ahead of the draft, Mel Kiper Jr. released his final Top 150 prospects for ESPN, and two former Kentucky Wildcats made the list.
The obvious one is stud linebacker Jamin Davis, who comes in at 19th overall, and is almost but a lock to be a first or second-round draft choice.
Lockdown cornerback Kelvin Joseph is the other Wildcat to make the cut coming in at 67th overall.
Here is what Kiper said about Davis:
“Davis is really only a one-year starter — he started a single game in 2019 — but he was a force as an off-ball linebacker for the Wildcats last season. He’s physical and tough, and he has some coverage skills.”
Kiper also then added the tackling percentage stat that has scouts drooling over adding a guy like Davis to their defenses.
For Joseph, he was once seen as a late first round selection, but that has slowly declined over the last several weeks. Expect to hear his name called in the middle rounds, more specifically the third or fourth.
Although this list is only the top-150 he actually went deeper by position. Here is where he has all the Wildcats who have their names in the draft:
- Jamin Davis: No. 2 ILB
- Kelvin Joseph: No. 8 CB
- AJ Rose: No. 38 RB
- Landon Young: No. 27 OT
- Drake Jackson: No. 7 C
- Quinton Bohanna: No. 14 DT
- Phil Hoskins: No. 35 DT
- Boogie Watson: No. 29 OLB
- Brandin Echols: No. 31 CB
- Max Duffy: No. 7 K/P
Let the fun begin folks!
