Former Kentucky basketball player Terrence Clarke has passed away following a car crash in Los Angeles, according to WKYT. He was 19 years old.
The report says Clarke and Kentucky teammate BJ Boston were leaving a workout when the accident happened. Boston is reportedly OK, according to Los Angeles reporter Tarek Fattal.
A Boston (MA) native who went to high school at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, Clarke signed with Kentucky as a 5-star Class of 2020 recruit and was a consensus top-10 prospect. 247 Sports recruiting director Jerry Meyer called Clarke one of the best shooting guards he’s ever scouted.
Clarke had declared for the 2021 NBA Draft and was planning to remain in it. Despite a challenging freshman season that saw him miss two months of action due to an ankle injury, Clarke was still likely to hear his name called on Draft Night and have his dreams of playing in the NBA realized. He had a very bright future ahead that has sadly ended far too soon.
From all of us at A Sea of Blue, our thoughts and prayers go out to Clarke and his family.
